Write the GMAT

GMAT scores are a common tool used by reputable business programs throughout the world. Most individuals who want to obtain an MBA must write the GMAT. In fact, more than 1,800 schools that offer MBAs require applicants to write the test.

To determine whether a GMAT is required, individuals should check the application guidelines for the school or schools they wish to attend. Some MBA programs do not require that a GMAT be written. However, it may be worthwhile to note that schools which do not require this test are often considered to be of lower quality and less reputable than those that do. Therefore, those planning to attend a quality institution will probably be required to write the test.

Other than thoroughly preparing to write the test, the most important thing is to ensure that all schools of interest receive the official GMAT results. Individuals should check application deadlines for each school and make sure they write the test well in advance of these closing dates.

Test takers must specify which institution or institutions will receive the results. This is imperative, as scores and/or scoring reports can not be submitted by the applicant for consideration. After the test is written and scored, the results will be delivered to all schools that were designated by the MBA applicant prior to writing the test. They will then be used by admissions committees as an important part of the application process.
